Montreal Area Gatherings

Lorraine Costello, CND with the sisters and associates of the Montreal Area

On Tuesday, January 16th sisters and associates of the Montreal area gathered at the mother house for what proved to be a ‘lived’ experience of the process and the spirit of our provincial Chapter 2017. At this first Area Gathering, Sisters Becky McKenna and Maureen MacIsaac, with the help of Sister Maura McGrath, associate Carl Madigan and JPIC coordinator Monica Lambton, led the group through an experience of the Chapter process, its spirit and ensuing orientations. Maura and Carl shared their personal experiences of being a part of Chapter and being caught by its incredibly positive spirit.

Focusing on the two major thrust of Chapter, our contemplative stance and the call to the peripheries, the Chapter came alive for all present. It meant so much not only to talk about the event but to actually enter the process together. With Monica we explored some of the dimensions and the reality of the peripheries in our own lives day-by-day and the call to be concrete about this critical option at this time in our history.

On Wednesday, January 17th, another session was held with the sisters of Mary of Peace community. Again, the experience was one of deep listening and active involvement. This time Becky and Maureen were joined by Sister Sheila Sullivan who shared her personal experience of Chapter.

With deep gratitude to our leadership team and to all who participated in Chapter 2017, we left these sessions energized and committed to its call to us and for our world. Keep the door open...
