For Love of Mother Earth

We live on a wondrous spinning jewel; so fragile and precious is she. Oh Earth, beautiful one! Oh Earth, awesome and good! Gentle planet, giving all; Oh Earth, our home! ©2008 by Jan Novotka’s Music LLC (ASCAP)

Congregational Leadership Visit

All of you will have read the letter to sisters and associates from the Congregation Administration Team. Seeing Visitation Province through the eyes of the team is a gift to all of us. We indeed have been blessed by their many ‘visitations’ throughout our province.

We say thank you to Sisters Josephine, Danielle, Anne, Agnes, Arlita and Donna for their time among us. Thank you to all who assisted in any way in the planning and carrying out of this visit. We are most grateful to all, sisters and associates, for entering into this graced time with such openness and enthusiasm.

Associate Relationship

The steady movement towards our Congregation of Notre Dame Corporate Stance on Climate Change is “in the conversations” of our associates across Visitation Province. The signing of the Corporate Stance will soon be celebrated for many within this year’s Visitation feast day recommitment gatherings. We sense more deeply in this new moment that our Visitation spirit connects us with the joy, pain and struggle of the whole of creation. The associate coordinators have been doing great work in getting the climate change material out to all associates in their areas.

Three women candidates were recommended and accepted, as soon to be, new associates. This is always a gift given to us and to our world to widen the embrace of Marguerite’s spirit and mission. The persons received at this time are Carmel Kilkenny, Montreal QC, Sharon DiFruscia, Montreal QC, and Christina Perry, Kingston ON. We welcome Carmel, Sharon, and Christina and wish them support and blessings as they journey with us into the future.

At St. Joseph Renewal Center, Mabou on May 12-13 Sister Regina McQuaid, CND, will be facilitating a time of discernment with Dianne MacAskill, Sydney and Anna Rowley, Halifax. One of them will be the next new co-coordinator in the East. We give thanks for Winnie Odo’s six years of grace-filled and committed leadership with associates. We know the seeds Winnie has sown together with others have been growing in ever so many ways and will continue to do so.

On Wednesday, May 6 the Provincial Administration Team met with Monica Lambton, Office of Justice and Peace coordinator. It provided a great opportunity to deepen our conversation on Climate Action as well as time focused on the practical parts of future planning and next steps for JPIC and Visitation Province.

CND Health Care Centre Summer Volunteers

2015 – 2016 Marguerite Bourgeoys Bursaries

Members of the Bursary Committee met at Marguerite Bourgeoys Centre in Summerside from May 11-13. Prior to gathering, committee members spent many hours reading and reviewing all applications received. If necessary, applicants were contacted by phone or email to answer any questions that surfaced during the review process.

We reviewed one hundred and sixty-three applications this year. Thanks to our sisters and associates who helped in the distribution of the application forms. This ministry could not be carried out without your input!

A total of $200,000 was allocated to one hundred and fifty-eight bursary applicants. We are grateful to the General Administration who provide the funds for the bursary program.

Donation to Nepal

We made a substantial donation to the Canada Red Cross in support of its relief efforts for Nepal. Our donation will be tripled by Aviva Canada, a caring partner of Canadian Red Cross.
