GENERAL CHAPTER: We have all received the Preparation Booklet for the General Chapter of 2016. This comes from the Pre-Chapter Committee in Montreal. Just a heads up that the first step of the process is Personal Sharing followed by Group Sharing. The responses to this part are due by September 1st.


ASSOCIATE NEWS 

GENERAL CHAPTER: Associates have received by email or are receiving with this newsletter their materials for the Preparation for the General Chapter of 2016. During the summer, each associate is asked to begin his or her personal reflection process. The focus of the September meetings of Associate Communities will be sharing the results of each group’s personal reflections. Responses of the Associate Communities and individuals not in local groups are to be sent to Sr. Joan by September 30th.

VISITATION CELEBRATION IN ILLINOIS: The sisters and the associates, who are in four communities came together for the Feast of the Visitation on May 30 th at St. Jude’s in South Holland. They began with a trust walk in the “Footsteps of Mary”. This experience brought the entire group to greater understanding of and trust in each other. Their Prayer Service was in English and Spanish and was followed by an enjoyable meal provided by the associates.

QUONNIE ASSOCIATE RETREAT: September 18–20, 2015. The retreat will be loosely based on Sacred Fire: A Vision for a Deeper Human and Christian Maturity by Ronald Rolheiser. Registration forms will be sent soon to all associates by email or regular mail. Cost of the weekend is $90; deposit $30. A registration form must be sent to reserve a place on the retreat.

NEW ASSOCIATES, STAMFORD, CT: On the Feast of the Visitation in the St. Cecilia Chapel in Stamford, CT, three women made their initial commitment as Associates of the Congregation of Notre Dame.

All three have found in the Associate Relationship a spiritual community that brings together their faith and service.

The Stamford associates and sisters, family and friends celebrated with the new associates. During the ceremony, the six associates who had been involved in their formation, Peg Hammerl, Helen Rothermich, Linda Bova, Kathleen Carty, Candice Byram, Connie Falkenstein presented the associate pins, Writings of St. Marguerite, and Chapter Booklets to them. The Associate Relationship is blessed in these new associates!

WELCOME TO FOUR CANDIDATES, Providence, RI: On Sunday, March 29th, at the Rhode Island Associate Community meeting at St. Mary’s Parish Rectory, four women were welcomed as candidates to the Associate Relationship. Left to right in the picture are Roberta Zimmerly, Barbara Clarkin, Judy Laffey and Kathy Donohue. They are doing their formation on-line with associates and sisters but also attend the Rhode Island Associates and Friends meetings.

 

FIRST ASSOCIATE ASSEMBLY, April 17-19, 2015, Wilton, CT: Call to Visitation: The Associate Relationship, Past, Present and Future. The Planning Committee met on June 5th to discuss follow-up to this joy-filled and energetic event. Our experience was Visitation reincarnated and the fire of Pentecost. Soon next steps and data from the Assembly will be sent to all participants.
