Saint Joseph: The Dream of Vocation
In his message to the world for this occasion, Pope Francis turns to Saint Joseph for inspiration. Presenting Joseph as a man who heard God’s call to be a father, responded to it, and lovingly lived out this vocation throughout his life, Pope Francis invites us to spend some time getting to know Joseph better.
For Pope Francis, Joseph can be an inspiration to all of us trying to live out our respective vocations in the midst of our daily routines, be we mothers, fathers, young, single, consecrated religious, or priests.

It was Holy Thursday Evening. The little boy wasn’t yet three years old. He was at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper with his grandmother. They are at Mass together almost every Sunday morning. As young as he is, he manages more or less to sit still during the Mass. Usually he and his grandmother sit on the outside aisle, but this time they were in the center aisle. The little boy had an unobstructed view of the main altar, which he seemed to enjoy as he was hanging off the pew looking at the sanctuary most of the time.
St. Marguerite Bourgeoys our founder calls us “to love our God and our neighbor as we love ourselves.” Such love is found in a reciprocity, a mutuality of love. In fidelity to our commitment to bearing public witness that is clear and direct, we seek to fashion God’s beloved community with our brothers and sisters. We join in support and solidarity with the statement of the Equal Justice Initiative (www.EJI.org) and their call to us currently. We continue to engage in and collaborate with their truth telling about racial injustice in this country.
