Friday, June 1st, CND associates in Fredericton met at the home of Carole Dilworth. We shared the beautiful reflective prayer prepared for us this year by Blessed Sacrament Province; then enjoyed a feast day meal and lively conversation.
In 1985 Fr. Mary Jenco, a Servite priest, was taken hostage in Beirut and held for 19 months, suffering gravely at the hands of a Shiite group. After his return, he traveled around the country speaking of his experiences and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ’s forgiveness of enemies.
On the feast of the Visitation, the PEI Sisters gathered at Andrews of Charlottetown to celebrate our Feast Day and greet our Jubilarians. At the Eucharistic celebration, we renewed our vows in English and French. We enjoyed a delicious lobster dinner with all of the residents at Andrews. Then we gathered in the Community Room to celebrate a Jubilee of Grace (Sister Thérèse Arsenault) and five Diamond Jubilees (Sisters Bernadette Gallant, Réjeanne Bourque, Katherine T. MacDonald, Hermine Bernard and Noreen Hickey). This represents 370 years of consecrated life! Magnificat! On June 10th, the Jubilarians will celebrate with their families.
